I can see clearly now the rain is gone. Suddenly everything makes sense. Not today.

Installation

The site-specific installation “I can see clearly now the rain is gone. Suddenly, everything makes sense. Not today.” by Stefanie Hollerbach, Isabell Alexandra Meldner and Hanne Jannasch was on view from June 27-29, 2023 at Senatssaal of the Dresden University of Fine Arts.
The three interrelated works “I can see clearly now the rain is gone.“, „Suddenly, everything makes sense.“ and „Not today.” were developed for each other and the intervening setting of white carpet, which covers the usual, dark wooden floor.
In rhythmic motion, a windshield wiper seems to clear the view onto the river outside, the approximately 120 m2 big room is filled by an apple on a pedestal, while it is not possible to enter due to chains on both entrances. The carpet and the floor plan/poster became integral parts of the installation. The conceptual intervention resembles a humorous comment on itself as an exhibition practice. It poetically plays with the visitor’s expectations and the institutional context. Although the Senatssaal is not very accessible to a public outside the art university, it has been used for exhibitions for decades.
